About Lower Body Lifts (LBL)

With careful planning and the talent of our plastic surgeons in body contouring techniques at Inspire Aesthetics, we can surgically reshape your lower body. You may want drastic changes in the appearance of your abdomen, buttocks, and thighs by reducing the amount of sagging skin on your lower body. Our plastic surgeons in Fort Lauderdale and Delray Beach, FL can improve the contour of your lower body with a tummy tuck, beltectomy, liposuctionbutt lift, and thigh lift at the same time or in a series of surgeries. In a private consultation, our plastic surgeons can make suggestions about which surgical excisions and nonsurgical (laser and ultrasonic fat removal, liposuction, and CoolSculpting®) body contouring procedures would be in your best interest. Reduce the stretched-out, redundant skin on your lower body with updated and innovative methods that adjust treatment according to your body type and aesthetic concerns. We would like to discuss with you the latest options in body contouring for restoring a natural-looking, pleasing contour to your body.

Reasons for LBL

Many patients seek a lower body lift for the following reasons:

  • Stubborn fat that resides in the abdominal wall, thighs, and buttocks
  • Lax skin in multiple areas on the lower body
  • Significant amount of weight loss
  • Want to change the shape of body for a more attractive figure

What to Expect from a Lower Body Lift

As discussed in your treatment planning session, there will be multiple procedures completed at once during a lower body lift. Common procedures performed within a lower body lift are a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), beltectomy, panniculectomy, thigh lift, and butt lift.  The surgical technique will be discussed with you, along with the risks and what type of scar it will make. Our diligent plastic surgeons will take the necessary precautions to hide scarring made by the incisions within the natural folds and creases of your skin. We can also mask or obliterate scars with nonsurgical scar removal procedures.

During/After Surgery

All of the lower body lift procedures will be performed at a local hospital or an accredited surgical center with a general anesthetic. Depending on the number of procedures performed within your lower body lift, the length of your operation could last 3 – 4 hours or longer. You may be required to spend several nights in the hospital so that your progress can be monitored as this is a very extensive procedure. Your post-operation nurse will also manage your level of pain and help minimize your discomfort.

 Recovery

Once you are home recovering, we ask that you rest for at least 2 weeks post-op and continue to take all medications you were prescribed. Swelling and bruising are normal body responses to this surgery and it may take 6 months or more to fully recover. Delayed healing, bleeding, scarring, infection, and blood clotting in the legs are all risks that can be avoided with precaution and care.

You will need to make gentle movements starting on day 2 to keep your blood circulating.   Compression garments need to be worn as recommended by your plastic surgeon.   You will need to wear the abdominal compression garment for the first 12 weeks. Your surgeon will monitor your progress during the recovery process and inform you when you can return to normal activities.

Other Considerations

Though differences are visible within the first week, it takes 6 – 12 months before the optimal appearance becomes apparent in your body contour. Your skin will continue to age, and you will still experience a skin laxity change over the course of your lifetime. It is truly important to adhere to a healthy lifestyle and exercise regimen after a lower body lift so that you can enjoy the results of this surgery for many years.
