Breast Reduction

Are you struggling with the physical and emotional challenges of having disproportionately large breasts? Breast reduction can alleviate discomfort, improve your quality of life, and boost your self-confidence by reducing the size and weight of your breasts. Inspire Aesthetics offers personalized breast reduction surgery to alleviate pain and improve your quality of life.

The Impact of Oversized Breasts

When your breast size is causing you distress and physical pain, it may be time to seek the advice of a medical professional. Large, overbearing breasts can strain your neck, back, and shoulder muscles, cause irritating skin rashes underneath your undergarments, create self-esteem issues, and much more. Having extremely disproportionate breasts to your body frame can be harmful to your physical and mental health.

Furthermore, women with oversized breasts often struggle with performing exercises and normal everyday tasks due to the added weight. Our experienced plastic surgeons at Inspire Aesthetics provide breast reduction in our AAAASF-certified surgical centers in Fort Lauderdale and Delray Beach, FL. We help women live healthy lifestyles without the burden of excessively heavy breasts causing medical issues and a decrease in the quality of life.

About Breast Reduction Surgery

Breast reduction, also known as a reduction mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure to reduce the size and weight of overly large breasts. It involves the removal of excess breast tissue, fat, and skin, resulting in smaller, more proportionate breasts. The surgery is not only a cosmetic enhancement but also a practical solution for individuals who experience physical discomfort, including back and neck pain, as well as emotional distress due to their breast size. Breast reduction can help enhance self-esteem, comfort, and overall well-being.

Best Candidates

The ideal candidates for breast reduction surgery are individuals who face physical discomfort and emotional distress due to excessively large breasts. They should be in good overall health, non-smokers, and have realistic expectations about the procedure’s outcomes. Our plastic surgeons can discuss your goals and evaluate your condition to determine if you’re a suitable candidate for breast reduction surgery.

Breast reduction is appropriate if you experience:
  • Chronic back, neck, or shoulder pain attributed to breast size
  • Slumped posture caused by the weight of the breasts
  • Limited physical activity or discomfort during exercise
  • Skin irritation and rashes beneath the breasts
  • Disproportionately large breasts relative to their body frame
  • Painfully heavy breasts
  • Bra strap grooves in the shoulders
  • Limitations on activity
  • Psychological distress related to breast size

Breast Reduction: What To Expect

During a reduction mammaplasty, the surgeon will skillfully remove excess skin and tissue before re-contouring the breasts. The surgeon can choose to implement these incision patterns:

      • Periareolar Incision: incision around the circumference of the areola
      • Lollipop Incision: vertical incision from the bottom edge of the areola to the breast line
      • Anchor Incision: horizontal incision on the breast line

Liposuction may also be used to remove excess tissue in the breast — this method can reduce scarring as it requires a much smaller incision. Liposuction also reduces the risk of losing nipple sensation and discoloration of the areola due to poor blood flow during surgery. The surgeon will discuss the difference between the techniques and help you determine which is best for you.

Your Breast Reduction Recovery Process

After breast reduction surgery, you may feel immediately lighter due to the amount of tissue removed. You may also experience soreness, swelling, and bruising, but the initial discomfort can be managed with pain medications. You should wear a compression bra to support the healing process. You will also be given aftercare instructions, and you can pre-schedule your follow-up appointments to help you stay on track during your recovery.

You must rest for at least 7 to 10 days before returning to work, although light walking is encouraged during this period. Regular physical activities can be resumed within 6 to 8 weeks. In some patients, it may take a year for nipple sensitivity to return to normal. Over time, your breasts will settle into their new shape, and you’ll enjoy the physical and emotional benefits of your breast reduction surgery.
