About Cheek Implants
Cheek implants: We can surgically insert a synthetic implant into your cheek to smooth your skin and fill in lost volume. This is an invasive procedure with longer-lasting results.
Fat transfer: With the transfer from your own purified body fat, we can fill in the areas of your mid-face. Using liposuction on one area of your body like the abdomen, we can augment your face using your own fat.
Injectable fillers: For a noninvasive approach, we can use cosmetic injectable fillers, such as Restylane® or Juvéderm®, to temporarily fill in your cheeks. You can also try an injectable filler first before having augmentation done to see how you like the results.

What to Expect With Cheek Implants
During your consultation, your plastic surgeon will examine your cheeks and discuss the best size, shape, and placement for the implant. A local anesthetic will be given prior to the procedure to help alleviate discomfort and pain. During surgery, the implants will be placed in the cheeks through a “pocket” created in the cheekbone. Once the implant is securely in place, the incision(s) will be closed.

Other Considerations
Following cheek augmentation surgery you should expect an extended recovery process, however, visible improvement can be seen immediately. Typically bruising and swelling of the cheeks are noticeable for about 1 – 2 weeks. The cheeks will also feel tight and stiff. While a full recovery can take up to 2 months, expect to return to regular routines within 7 – 10 days after the procedure. Exercising can be resumed after 3 – 4 weeks.
