About IPL

Our Delray Beach and Fort Lauderdale, FL plastic surgeons can rejuvenate sun-damaged skin and more with revolutionary technology using intense pulsed light (IPL) photo facials. If you suffer from hyperpigmentation, rosacea, facial veins, large pores, and other skin imperfections, an IPL treatment can effectively penetrate the deep layers of your skin to eliminate those conditions. At Inspire Aesthetics, our estheticians use light at varying wavelengths to damage the skin so that it will regenerate a new, healthier layer. Our IPL skin treatments with the Lumenis M22™ can tone your skin, decrease pigmented lesions, dark tattoos, and more.

When you come into our office for a consultation, we will design a customized skin care treatment plan for you based on your needs. This anti-aging skin rejuvenation treatment works with other cosmetic procedures as well. Your skin will not only look younger, but it will feel softer and supple at the end of the process.

Best Candidates

IPL is perfect for anyone who is concerned about his or her aged skin and wants to look younger. This Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved procedure is noninvasive and works well with all areas of the face to target lines, wrinkles, and folds. Patients with pigmentation issues, sun-damaged skin, large pores or freckles are also good candidates for this treatment. IPL works the best on light-skinned individuals who don’t tan.

Lumenis Technology

The Lumenis M22 IPL system is innovative technology that combines effective non-ablative fractional ResurFX and Nd:YAG lasers into one device. With a multi-use platform, we are able to safely treat a wide variety of skin conditions, including sun damage, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and more. What sets the Lumenis M22 apart is that it is three times faster than other IPL lasers and utilizes a built-in cooling scanner to continuously cool the skin during treatment for optimal comfort. This advanced technology also means fewer treatments and downtime compared to other lasers on the cosmetic market.

What to Expect

Before the procedure, the patient will be given protective eyewear to put on to prevent any damage from the light source. The medical professional will apply a cooling gel on the treatment area and then place the handheld light source over the area. Varying wavelengths will be penetrating the skin in order to reach deep levels below the surface. There should be little to no pain with most patients experiencing only a slight sting. The time of the treatment varies on the size of the treatment area, as well as the condition of the patient’s skin.

Other Consideration

Since this is a noninvasive treatment, there is no downtime and most patients can return to his or her daily activities immediately after. Common side effects include redness, splotchy areas or skin darkening that should subside within a few hours. As the skin heals, it will look noticeably younger, smoother and more even-toned with smaller pores. To achieve the best results, a series of sessions are scheduled a few weeks apart.
